Heidi’s directorial feature debut, Suka, a Romeo and Juliet-style crime thriller, is nominated for the AACTA award for Best Original Score and won a Silver Australian Cinematography Society Award for Best Feature under $3 million. Suka is being broadcast by Channel 9 (9Go!) in late 2023 and was released by Umbrella Films on Amazon Prime. Heidi’s drama debut was the elevated genre short Little Lamb - a feminist re-telling of the Bluebeard fable set in convict Van Diemen’s Land - premiered at Fantastic Fest and screened for four years in festivals around the world, picking up many awards. Her sophomore short, Devil Woman, an eco-feminist horror, premiered at Fantasia and was selected for BIFAN, Frghtfest, and Morbido. Heidi’s professional background also includes twenty years of documentary filmmaking focusing on environmental and human rights issues. Heidi is attached to direct a modern retelling of Charlotte Perkins Gilmore’s seminal gothic short story The Yellow Wallpaper, due for production in 2025.
